Electrical Testing

Electrical Testing of Transformers
To assess the condition, we carry out electrical tests on oil and cast-resin transformers – either directly on-site or in our test field.

Scope of testing:

  • Insulation resistance (HV–ground, HV–LV, LV–ground)
  • Winding resistance (high- and low-voltage winding)
  • Transformation ratio incl. tap changers

Advantages:
Early fault detection – increased operational safety – extended service life.

Insulating oil tests

Standard Tests according to DIN EN 60422
For transformers, converters, and switchgear
In our in-house insulating oil laboratory:

  • Breakdown voltage (DIN EN 60156:1996-03)
  • Individual values
  • Acid content (DIN EN 62021-1:2004-06)
  • Dielectric loss factor (DIN EN 60247:2005-01)
  • Water content (DIN EN 60814:1999-03)
  • Color number / appearance (DIN ISO 2049:2001-06)
  • Surface tension (DIN EN 14210:2004-03)
  • PCB content (DIN EN 12766-1)
  • Specific resistance (IEC 60247)

Sampling according to DIN EN 475 can be carried out under voltage, considering safety distances.

If you would like to take the samples yourself, we will provide sample containers free of charge.

Voltage testers > 1 kV

According to the accident prevention regulations (UVV) for electrical systems and equipment (DGUV A3), voltage testers must be checked for proper condition and function at least every 6 years.

Our offer:

  • Voltage tester with glow lamp
  • Voltage tester with electronic

These include cleaning, battery replacement, minor repairs, test report, and return delivery of the equipment.

Possible additional services:

  • per additional voltage range
  • Rental device
  • Battery replacement Comet
  • Protective rubber replacement

Grounding Kits

Earthing and short-circuiting devices (EuK) are portable safety equipment that ensure safe potential equalization when working on electrical installations. They reliably protect technicians against dangerous residual voltages and short-circuit currents.

Our offer:

  • Metrological testing of grounding kits
  • Messung vor Ort
  • Messung bei Pfalztrafo

Testing requirements for EuK devices

  • Grounding and short-circuit devices are safety equipment and are subject to the requirements of the 'regular recurring testing.
  • Untested or defective grounding and short-circuit devices pose a significant safety risk based on experience from the professional association.
  • The obligation to test electrical equipment also applies to grounding and short-circuit devices.

Relevant legal regulations are:

According to the Accident Prevention Regulation DGUV Vorschrift 3 § 5, electrical equipment must be tested at specific intervals. The timeframes must be set in such a way that potential defects, which are expected, are detected in time.

According to the Industrial Safety Ordinance (BetrSichV) §§ 4 and 10, work equipment must be suitable and safely provided. If harmful influences are present, testing is required.

According to the Occupational Safety Act (ArbSchG) §§ 4 and 9, workplaces must be safely designed. In hazardous work areas, appropriate safety measures and precautions must be implemented, such as recurring tests.

According to the electrical engineering standard DIN VDE 0105-100, section 5.3, recurring tests are required to maintain the proper condition, which also applies to EuK devices.
